A Message for FESCO Supporters:
FESCO is seeing more exciting and encouraging results from its work than ever before! The 2009 Homeless Count showed that while far too many children and families are still homeless, the number of homeless families has decreases significantly in the past two years, an indication that our emphasis on moving homeless families to self-sufficiency is working.
At the same time, we are facing unprecedented financial challenges. We have taken every possible measure to reduce expenses without significantly decreasing service, including eliminating some staff positions. Senior staff have taken pay cuts. Still, the loss of several sources of government funding has left us with a serious deficit. We have a plan to return to financial stability within two years. In the meantime, we need to close a cash shortfall of $150,000 by the end of this December. We will be conducting a Challenge Fund Campaign to raise the money for our supporters. We will need everyone who believes it is unacceptable for children to be homeless in our community to give to the fullest of their capacity to ensure that FESCO can continue to help homeless families move towards self-sufficiency.
We ask of our supporters to:
* Respond as generously as possible to the Challenge Fund Campaign * Consider selling tickets to our Rising Star Raffle * Collect BART Tiny Tickets and send them to FESCO
* Conduct your own grassroots fundraiser and donate the proceeds to FESCO * Tell FIVE people why you support FESCO and ask them to do so as well.
