Christian Education and Program Development Director

 

Westminster Hills Presbyterian Church is a welcoming and affirming congregation with a history of community engagement and shared ministry with a variety of local congregations and agencies over the last 50 years.

 

Westminster Hills is looking for an individual with a background in Christian education and program development with an emphasis on community ministry, intergenerational prophetic witness, social justice and sensitivity to cultural diversity as a resource with an eye toward bi-lingual (Spanish) bi-cultural programming.

 

Responsibilities

  • Procurement and development of appropriate curriculums for children and adult Christian education
  • Recruitment and training of children’s Sunday Joy Group teachers
  • Develop a summer recreational and educational program for youth
  • Work with the pastor in the development regular and seasonal, i.e., Lent, adult studies and one to three annual lecture series. 
  • Development of curriculum based activities that make use of congregation’s neighborhood projects and programs (Day Labor Center, Community Garden, Family Resource Center, etc.}
  • Work with the pastor and congregation in developing and planning mission retreats and conferences (Border Links/Humane Boarders, New Orleans reconstruction, Camping trips etc.)

 Qualification

       Professional training and least 2 years experience in program and    curriculum development

  • Fluency in Spanish preferred but not required.
  • Experience in working with diverse communities
  • Sense of humor

 

Salary

 

$40,000 with benefits
